Veterans Honor Ride :

The Arkansas Honor Ride held a bike and car show at the Hot Springs Airport on Saturday, May 5. The Diamond Chapter was represented by Albert Jack, Butch and Pat Jones, and Greg and Linda Bright with a display of six motorcycles. Butch entered a beautiful blue Cushman in the bike show and won first place for antiques. It was a great event and there was a huge turnout. The car show had over a hundred cars. Mike Vano showed his cool VW Beetle flatbed and I showed my ’69 Chevelle SS. The event was bigger than the Honor Ride organizers had anticipated and was a huge success and for a good cause. They were very appreciative of the Diamond Chapter and we were glad to be a part of it.  Greg Bright

Cherokee Chapter and CCM Antique Motorcycle Road Run:
Jed and Kris Simpson, Susie, and I attended the Cherokee Chapter and CCM Antique Motorcycle Road Run in Livingston Texas. The main meeting place was Lake Livingston State Park where we and several other riders stayed.
We were greeted by thousands of mosquitoes but a quick trip for some spray made things better.
Friday morning riders meeting was at 9:00 am. Around 80 riders where there. We road 140 miles around the area and ended up at the Carson’s ranch. Great back roads ride. I rode my BMW R90S but it had some electrical problems but it got us back to the camp.
The Party at the Ranch started around 6:00 pm. It rained for a short while and we had great weather for the rest of the weekend. Bar B Que Beef and Chicken with all the fixin’s was served with Beer and Wine. The Country band was great and played old country and 60’s & 70’s music.
Made new friends and talked to a lot of old friends. The Carson’s Ranch was a fantastic place to have a party.
Everyone had a great time.
Saturday 9:00 am riders meeting at the state park. 75 to 80 motorcycles started out on a 150 mile back road ride. We had a great lunch buffet in some little town. The ride ended at the Carson’s museum and shop.
They have around 80 antique motorcycles and a great shop. Some bikes needed some repair.
Shelby drove the chase truck and picked up 5 motorcycles that broke down, not bad only 5 out of 80.
The Party started around 6:00 pm at the museum and shop. It was Cinco de Mayo so fajitas were served.
Buck’s neighbor made a large cake and lots of cookies. More beer and wine and a different country band.
Sunday a ride was scheduled, but I think most everyone left. We headed to the Texas Hill country to do some more riding and Jed and Kris headed to Hot Springs.
The Carson’s and the Cherokee Chapter sure know how to put on a party and Road Run.
Everyone had a fantastic time and left with great memories.
Thanks so much to Mike, Theresa, Buck, and the Cherokee Chapter for all you did and it was a honor to be there among great people and good friends.

Texas Hill Country Riding:
Susie and I headed to the Texas hill country to meet up with our friends from FT. Worth and Dallas.
We got caught in Austin traffic for a few hours but finally made it to Medina RV resort.
We road the three sisters ( hwy 337, 336, 335 ) about 170 miles with lots of turns. We rented the big ranch house that could sleep 10 people. The house was built in 1946, pretty cool and next to the pool.
After four more days of riding we were pretty much done.
If you have not ridden the Texas hill country, put it on your bucket list. The best riding  in Texas.
We had a great time riding with old friends.
