The AMCA and Barber's got together for a May Motorcycle Classic event. Russell and Elizabeth, Jed Simpson, Joe Templeton, and Myself attended this event and represented the Diamond Chapter. We set up a Diamond Chapter display in the fun zone with several other AMCA Chapters. We handed out Arkansas maps, Ride guides, state park guides, state pins, flyers for Antique Motorcycles in the Park, and lots more. We met lots of people who had a interest in riding in Arkansas and coming to our show in September. We got lots of info about other chapters events. The swap meet had lots of venders but the crowd was very lite and some venders left early. There was plenty to do, swap meet, wall of death, museum and more. I took three bikes to be judged by AMCA judges on Sunday. The 1934 BSA got a second winners circle award. The BMW R90S got a junior first with 96 points. The Triumph Hurricane got a junior first with 98 points. I also did a photo shoot with the BSA and the Hurricane. They maybe in the AMCA magazine in October. I was very happy, glad I took them. Awards were presented at 12:00 so we did not leave until 1:00pm, got home at midnight, long day. This was the first attempt for this event. The crowd was very lite. Not enough advertising, Memorial weekend , and the chance of rain was probably a big factor. I think they will do this event again but they have a lot of things to work out. We all had a great time but it was not like the October event. Thanks to Barber's and the AMCA. Jed and I have two camping spots for October Barber's Vintage Festival. Let me know if you want to go.
The AMCA Diamond Chapter held its May meeting at The Mt. Ida Good Ol' Days car show on May 28. Attendance was slim due to other events taking place on the same weekend. Members Gary and Sandy Walker, their daughter Christie, Butch and Pat Jones, and Greg Bright gathered and discussed events we had attended and upcoming events. Butch won 1st place with his 1965 Cushman Eagle and Greg won 3rd place with his 1960 Harley Davidson Servicar. Greg Bright
The Kick & Go motorcycle show and Drags was held in Bryant. They had a good turn out for their first show. The City would not let them do the drags, so it was pretty much a bike show. Tommy Clifton brought ten vintage bikes. James Sandage brought his Numbus. Russell and Elizabeth brought their new bike a 1970 Moto Guzzi. Really good turn out of vintage bikes. We handed out flyers for The Antique Motorcycles in the Park and got a lot of response. Dennis and girl friend, Greg & Linda Bright and myself rode the freeways to get there to Bryant. We took highway 5 back, much more fun. We met new people and fun was had by all. Hope They do it again.
Cycles-N-Rodz 3rd Annual Car & Bike Show was Saturday June 11th. The Diamond Chapter was well represented with a booth manned by Butch and Pat Jones, Russell and Elizabeth Plunkett, Jed Simpson, Dennis Ghegan, and Greg and Linda Bright. It was the largest show Cycles-N-Rodz has put on yet and they went all out doing an excellent job. The food was catered by Smokin In Style and was great as usual. The day was hot but beautiful and sunny. We handed out fliers and promoted Antique Motorcycles In The Park coming up September 10th. We met some new folks and some we hadn't seen for awhile. All in all, it was an enjoyable day.
Russell and Elizabeth Plunkett's 1970 Moto Guzzi Ambassador V750, found it on craigslist in Fayetteville, Ar.
